With work well underway, we are now looking to for an experienced Financial Controller to join during the pre-opening phase to set up the department. This is the most senior Accounting role within the hotel and will manage a full range of functions with the team such as accounts payable/receivable, Credit/Collections, Purchasing, Audit, Payroll and accounting operations.

Naturally confident and highly driven, the successful candidate will have a proven track of ensuring the security of the hotel asset and improve hotel profitability.

They will also act as the primary contact for all the hotel's financial and accounting related issues with owners, auditors internal/external and regulatory agencies.

A strong understanding of the London hotel market and procurement is also a prerequisite to help meet the Financial objectives of the hotel.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Implement and maintain acceptable accounting practices as required by company policy and procedures.
  • Develop and implement financial control procedures and systems to minimise risk; maintain records for internal and external audits; ensure compliance with government regulations and contractual agreements.
  • Maintain group policies and procedures, ensuring tight financial management of the business.
  • Manage hotel contracts (example: vendor leases and/or service contracts).
  • Recommend actions to maximise financial return.
  • Ensure that all daily / weekly and monthly finance deadlines, tasks and processes have been complied with.
  • Update and keep track of the hotel P&L forecasts.
  • Fully conduct a complete month-end for hotel. Budget reviews to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities for department heads
  • Review the accuracy of the payroll and the monthly exceptions report

Person Specification

  • At least 5 years in hotel accounting or audit experience
  • 3 years in a Financial Controller or as a Financial Manager position with a proven track record in branded 4/5 star properties.
  • Experience of the London hotel market
  • Bachelor's degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in Accounting and Finance preferred
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills
