What is the purpose of the role?
The position will play a key role in supporting the Wastewater Operational (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) expenditure investment programme to ensure our business meets its annual financial and compliance targets in the most efficient way. The role will be responsible for administrating the Directly Managed Capital (DMC) programme, financial monitoring, asset reporting, quarterly and annual forecasting and supporting our regions with risk management.

You will support the Directly Managed Capital (DMC) programme, provide financial governance, reporting, forecasting and business planning for waste treatment; this includes administration of risk approvals, analysing and communicating spend and adjusting budgets based on risk.
What will this role involve?
Responsibility for SAP and APS (asset planning tool) administration to support prioritisation and delivery of DMC projects including the error free implementation and reporting of data.
Supporting the wider waste treatment team in making appropriate risk based decisions, balancing expenditure, including recognising trends (such as emerging risks/opportunities) and providing appropriate justification to achieve the lowest cost to serve.
Provision of investment and risk associated data, managing/escalating issues appropriately including accurate forecasting and financial reporting.
Supporting the creation of investment papers/business cases and liaison with appropriate stakeholders for timely briefing and sign off for all investment needs.
Responsibility for the governance, reporting and administration for waste treatment, ensuring risk management processes are consistent and appropriate across our regions.
Supporting with the month end/quarterly and annual reporting of the portfolio against budget.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who has experience in analysis, (data and financial), experience of reporting and analysis, SAP ERP and ideally some project management experience. This role will suit someone who has the drive to learn about operations, finance and investment.You will possess a high attention to detail and accuracy and have confidence in your data. Good interpersonal skills are key, as well as communicating (both written and verbal) to internal stakeholders, strong organisational skills and a methodical approach are crucial to this role.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is a 12 month fixed term contract. The successful candidate will be based out of our Head Office, Clearwater Court, in Reading, Berkshire. We are offering a salary of up to £30,000.00 dependant on skills, expertise and qualifications. Part-time is an option for this role and the salary would be pro-rata.
