What is the purpose of the role?
We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our Data team in the Wholesale Market Services department which facilitates the delivery of our business's new market obligations. We enable the sale of services to all companies licensed to operate in the water markets, this equates to over £400m of revenue that is managed within the team. As well as managing approximately £40m of risk associated with market compliance. As a data analyst, you will work alongside our internal business users in monitoring, analysing, interpreting, reporting and auditing the data flow between internal systems and the open water market. You will also work on specific cases to ensure data integrity and work proactively to identify and resolve issues. A big focus of this role will be to resolve data issues and cases raised by other business units and continuously drive the efficiency to achieve as high levels of automation as possible. Increase the profile of the impact of poor data, and drive improvements across the business at source.

What will this role involve?
Ensure market transactional integrity is maintained through individual case analysis and rectification, process and system improvement, analysis and stakeholder engagement.
Monitoring, analyse and release the transactional data flows between internal systems and the open water market.
Identify issues in individual cases to ensure the right data updates have been made and resolve any bigger systemic issues.
Identify issues and lead resolutions- Proactive holistic monitoring of information indicating overall business health; Galvanising multi-functional, cross discipline teams to resolve problems; Spot fix data/transactional issues at source; Recommend changes to systems to increases levels of automation, increase efficiency; ownership of issues from identification to completion.
Provide relevant and effective operational data analysis and interpretation.
Provide expert advice to help influence and inform colleagues / managers on operational decisions, data quality and business processes improvements.
What are we looking for?
Do you have experience in a similar role and are confident working with people, processes and systems, especially via SQL? Do you possess a good understanding of the UK water industry? If the answer is yes, we'd be keen to hear from you! As well as strong numerical and analytical skills, with effective data analysis methods & techniques you will ideally have experience in Microsoft SQL.
Thames Water information and salary details
We are recruiting multiple people for this role, based in Reading and welcome a range of level of experience; with a salary between £30,000 - £50,000 depending on skills and experience.
