What is the purpose of the role?
This is an opportunity to be part of the largest transformation project inside Thames Water. This important role will support the design and improvement of environmental management systems (EMS) across the water and waste businesses to meet legislative and environmental permit requirements.
You will work with the EMS lead and teams across the wholesale business to support the design and development of new and existing processes, supporting documentation and procedures.

This is an opportunity to work with multiple teams across our business to improve our operations by process design, making our systems easier to use and fully embedding them within our business.
What will this role involve?
Review and develop business processes to incorporate the requirements of the environmental management system.
Improve the parts of the environmental management system which are common to all sites such as the approaches to planning, risk assessment, processes, roles and responsibilities, monitoring, performance evaluation, and improvement. Ensure consistency between site and non-site specific elements of the EMS.
Undertake process diagnosis for compliance, effectiveness and efficiency, proactively identify improvements and apply change management.
Work with the EMS lead to ensure the approaches are embedded across the business.
Undertake internal audits as required.
Present project risks and solutions early to allow business response.
Support communication and training programmes.
Collaboration with key stakeholders at all stages of process development to ensure solutions are fit for purpose, compliant and aligned to business need.

What are we looking for?
We are seeking an individual who is a self-starter and is used to working flexibly and juggling a number of priorities. You will have an awareness of Environmental Management Systems. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to work is required.
Proven experience in designing, improving and implementing processes from scoping through to realisation within required timescales is essential.
You will be able to produce and maintain effective process documentation and deliver improvement initiatives. An understanding of water and wastewater systems and environmental legislation is highly desirable.
You will have strong IT skills and be highly competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook), and willingness to learn and use other business systems and databases. Experience of ARIS and SAP is desirable.
Thames Water information and salary details
This exciting 6 month Fixed Term Contract is based at Clearwater Court in Reading. We are offering a salary of between £35,700 to £38,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
