What is the purpose of the role?
Thames Water is the largest water and waste water supply company in the UK with over 3,000 properties; we are looking for a key individual to work as part of the Operational Projects and Logistics Team. As Head of Facilities Management and you will be responsible for the internal team and ownership of high profile recently outsourced Facilities Management and Hard FM Building Maintenance Contracts. You will drive and champion health & safety across the department and wider business unit.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference aligning property and facilities strategies across the Thames estate. This role plays a huge importance to our business and will be responsible for a budget of circa £8.5m pa opex and £10- £12m pa opex with 5 to 6 direct reports, and an outsourced team of approx. 20.
What will this role involve?
A key focus in this role is to lead and champion the customer experience, making recommendations for streamlining and improvement at every opportunity.
Partner engagement is key, and you will have a real focus on building new and strengthening existing relationships.
You will be accountable for all financial and commercial performance and will be expected to closely monitor the contractor performance, along with the development of a continuous improvement plan.
In addition to developing and improving current performance, the opportunity exists to design and implement the strategy for the next procurement cycle.
What are we looking for?
The successful candidate will be commercially aware and have experience of account managing high value contracts. You will have a strong engagement style, demonstrating excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills. Experience of leading change initiatives within leading edge organisations would be highly desirable; you must be open to change and confident in putting new ideas forward to senior level stakeholders. You will have excellent contractual awareness of outsourced facilities and buildings maintenance contracts and the ability to drive performance and innovation. Excellent knowledge of health and safety and driving performance at all business levels is also essential.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based in Reading and is offering a salary up to £65,000. On top of our competitive salary package, you will also receive a competitive bonus, car allowance, private healthcare and an industry leading pension scheme. We also offer 2 paid volunteering days per year. This operational role will involve travel to contractor sites across the Thames Valley and London for approximately half the working week, therefore a clean driving license is essential.
