What is the purpose of the role?
We are currently seeking an industrial electrical technician to ensure that all electrical equipment associated with our Thames Water ring main shaft, pumping stations, reservoirs and water treatment works are running safely and efficiently using both proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will need to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, electrical plant equipment. Working within the maintenance team you will follow robust maintenance plan as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

What will this role involve?
The successful candidate will be working in a multi discipline team, with the responsibility of carrying out installation works on a variety of electrical equipment at a range of industrial and construction locations and involving a number of different processes.
In addition, this role will involve the inspection, testing and maintenance on equipment such as electrical motor drive systems, associated control systems including inverter drives, as required within manufacturer's guidelines and in compliance with current standards and regulations.
This may lead to the need to carry out unscheduled emergency maintenance work. Examples of equipment that will require working on will be, 3 phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD's, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
Carry out the repair and maintenance of electrical motor drive systems and associated control systems including Inverter drives.
Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
What are we looking for?
Are you a qualified electrician and who has electrical experience working on industrial plant equipment? Have you completed an apprenticeship, or have a BTEC HNC or equivalent in an electrical subject? We are looking for an apprenticeship-served, 17th edition electrician. Due to the nature of this role domestic experience is not suitable. You must have the ability to work with minimum supervision and have knowledge of health and safety issues ideally relevant to the water industry. A full, UK driving licence is essential.
Thames Water information and salary details
You will be based out of Merton TWRM and you may be eligible for a Company van. Depending on experience and/or qualifications you will be on a basic salary of £33,000 - £37,950.
