What is the purpose of the role?

The Release Management Lead will be responsible to support the Release Management lifecycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases for multiple applications across all areas of the Thames Water business.

The areas of expertise we're looking for are focused on the end to end service management of our IT services. This is a chance for you to work in our innovative creative office space where you will be able to visually demonstrate your skills, ideas and insights openly. This is a challenging role which requires you to help deliver the best next generation services to all our customers. Thames Water are about to embark on a very exciting journey to improve our IT services. You will be part of a new team creating our own in house multi-million pound ITIL service management framework. You will be involved in continuously improving our service for our current and future long term vision.

What will this role involve?

You will:

Support the maintenance of the Release Management process, policies procedures and guidelines.

Support the Release Management Process and ensure it is delivered to the agreed level of performance to support service availability.

Work with Partners and manage other IT Outsource and Product suppliers to maintain a high level of release performance.

Work closely with Test Environment Manager, Deployment Managers and Programme/Project Managers and Service Delivery Managers to ensure that the Release activities achieve the required business outcomes.

Support Release Plans and ensure they are available, completed, regularly reviewed and communicated to all release stakeholders.

Act as a focal point for Release Management, acting as a the key contact and escalation point in particular changes that need to expedited to release or emergency changes that need to expedited to release, as required.

Ensure the Release Management process is consistently followed across the Service Delivery function and that full process compliance is achieved across all RGs and third party suppliers.

Ensure resolver groups and third party suppliers manage the deployment of all releases through to a successful outcome.

Support other service management processes and activities to support the delivery of BAU including, change management, service asset and configuration management, transition management, service validation & testing, licence management and capacity management.

Support the provision of regular, transparent and accurate reporting on all Release Management activities against agreed KPIs and performance criteria.

What are we looking for?

You will have excellent service management skills with a high level of understanding of IT operations. Essentially you will have experience of working within a matrix organisation with a significant level of outsourced / off-shore suppliers. You will have a number of years' experience in Release Management with a solid understanding of Project Management principles - adhering to ITIL/ITSM standards and meeting Customer expectations. You will ideally have significant Experience working in an IT Transition Environment. You will be used to working with a team spread over multiple locations as part of an outsourced arrangement with and offshore partners in a multi-vendor environment and have the ability to influence senior customers and stakeholders. Essentially your technical skills will include Process Design and Management, IS Operations management, customer service techniques and stakeholder management.

Thames Water information and salary details

This role is based in Reading and is offering a salary banding of £40800 - £55200 dependant on experience.
