What is the purpose of the role?
We are currently seeking a Management Accountant responsible for maintaining the general ledger for a group of cost centres; managing the month end process; posting accruals/prepayments ensuring the reflect the activity in those areas; producing Forecasts/Budgets and acting as business partner to the cost centre managers. As well as assisting with streamlining and automating legacy business processes. As well as building core relations with your direct stakeholders and colleagues, key interactions outside finance include the Business Intelligence team, HR, cost centre managers, department heads and numerous contacts across the wider Thames Water business.

What will this role involve?
Month end reporting - Critically review and present Retail Opex, cost to serve and FTE reporting for actuals, forecast and budget. Analysis of variances and presentation of these in the month end across all Opex areas. Maintain and develop the reporting packs (Opex for actual, forecast and budget), updating to meet changing requirements of management.
Business Partnering - Ensure cost centre owners and the Retail leadership team receive the financial information needed to make the right decisions. Work with business partner colleagues for other business areas to strengthen and standardise the management accounts information provided. Ensure risks and opportunities are identified and flagged as appropriate. Maintain process document for management accounts production.
Other processes to be managed across the Opex team - FTE reporting by leading the finance activity around updates to the FTE process. Working with cost centre owners and HR to correctly report people on the correct cost centres. Ensure that recharges in and out of Retail are adequately supported and understood. General ledger maintenance; updates to cost centres, recharges rates across Retail.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a confident and self-motivated individual to provide professional advice and guidance in our decision making process. You will be newly qualified or experienced part qualified and have good business acumen, experience of building relationships across functions and possess the ability to influence senior stakeholders. You will have excellent organisation & analytical skills and be comfortable communicating with operational & financial colleagues at all levels. In addition to this a successful candidate will possess strong IT skills, particularly Excel and Powerpoint. Prior experience of using SAP and Hyperion is desirable. Due to the nature of this role, occasional travel to Reading may be required.

This role is based in Swindon, with a salary of up to £40,000.
