What is the purpose of the role?
Reporting directly to the Area Operations Manager, you will lead, support and develop a team of technicians to safely and efficiently operate and maintain our Water Production assets at Ashford & Kempton water treatment works in West London. You will have responsibility over a number of our key treatment process at each of these sites, ensuring our water quality standards are achieved at each stage. You will lead your team to ensure that we consistently meet our regulatory performance measures and performance commitments including Asset Health, customer service, drinking water quality and health and safety. You will be required to analyse trends and data and use this to implement plans to adequately improve the performance of the site processes.

What will this role involve?
The successful candidate will be performance managing a team of slow sand filter technicians, ensuring the safe delivery of our monthly planned operational and maintenance workload. As a deputy controller of premises you will ensure statutory obligations are met at each of our sites and support with planning and delivery of capital projects. You will enhance existing relationships with our water quality, standards and innovation teams and deliver excellent customer satisfaction from every customer contact. You will be part of a management team and will be required to work with and support the team as required.
Our successful performance managers are organised and efficient, great people managers and can work under pressure/time constraints. No one day is the same in the life of a performance manager at Thames Water and you must be able to effectively delegate and prioritise tasks with your team. You will be responsible for the development of your team members, and must ensure that they are consistently performing against both internal and external targets.
You will be expected to prepare reports and presentations for line managers and key stakeholders as required, so a keen eye for detail and a good level of confidence is a must to be a successful candidate in this role.
What are we looking for?
Ability to lead and develop people within a team
Relevant H&S qualifications and experience of applying these in an operational environment
Previous experience managing a team or coordinating team activity
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organisational skills, keen eye for detail and demonstrable ability of managing workload under pressure
Previous water industry experience would be beneficial
Clean water process knowledge would be advantageous, however full training of the water treatment process will be provided
Knowledge of mobile plant & safe operating procedures would also be an advantage
Any previous experience of operating mobile plant would also be beneficial
Confident in their ability to present key findings and liaise with managers of all levels

This role will be predominantly based at Ashford Common WTW in Middlesex. We are offering a salary between £31,790-£43,010 depending on experience and qualifications.
