What is the purpose of the role?
The role of this site based role is to perform a range of activities to ensure that all plant equipment is running safely and efficiently and to assist the site manager with their technical duties. Responsibilities include receiving deliveries, cleaning machines, ensuring H&S standards, machine testing, routine checks, maintenance and problem solving. You may be required to undertake sampling and data analysis to monitor process performance and to assist with customer billing & environmental compliance.

What will this role involve?
Performing a range of routine and reactive activities, to ensure the smooth operation of the treatment process in line with quality, regulatory and business standards.
Front-line maintenance, fault finding and general housekeeping.
Monitor, collate and report data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance is met.
Ensure equipment and resources are used, maintained and replaced appropriately to meet operational requirements, business standards and cost effectiveness.
Undertake safety and security checks and upkeep of records.
Adhere to company health & safety procedures in order to ensure the safety of yourself and others on site and minimise risk at all times.
There may be a requirement to work on a split shift rota to cover extended site opening hours.
Training and familiarisation will be provided for the range of treatment processes involved, which span aspects of wastewater treatment and steam / boiler operations.
What are we looking for?
Do you have similar experience working in an operational/manual role? Have you got the ability to give great customer service? We are looking for someone who wants to get stuck in. You will be comfortable with IT, have basic literacy and numeracy skills and must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures including confined space entry. You will have experience or willingness to liaise directly with customers and other stakeholders so will have advanced communication skills. A background in one of the following would be advantageous: water industry, waste water treatment, mechanical, engineering or other utilities. Due to the nature of the role a full, valid UK driving licence is required.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based at Long Reach sewage treatment works in Dartford. We are offering a salary up to £25,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Our excellent salary package includes a competitive contributory pension and a wider benefits scheme which includes an annual pay review, season ticket loans and loyalty awards for continuous service plus many more. Working hours will be between 8am and 8pm on a changing 8 hour shift pattern. All necessary equipment such as vehicle and tools are provided.
