What is the purpose of the role?
This role is to proactively ensure sewage treatment works comply with all statutory regulations and codes of practice, which regulate, or result from, the wastewater treatment process. You will use your experience and knowledge to maintain regulatory compliance and provide first response to process problems whilst communicating risks and compliance breaches within the operational area.

Working alongside and supporting the area Process Coordinator, you will be able to obtain knowledge and experience that is only available in this position. You will work on your own initiative and manage your workload whilst also be part of a great team.
What will this role involve?
Work with Process Coordinators and site management team to investigate process problems and generate action plans aimed at preventing regulatory consent failure or non-compliance to rulings on sludge, flow, odour and other potential nuisances.
Process testing & setting for sludge, trigger values, chemical dosing rates, flow to treatment, plus others as necessary.
Monitor key process control points and plant performance against these control points and investigate variances.
Advise and devise reports on the capability of a sewage works to treat changes in catchment flows and loads.
Work with regulatory compliance to investigate pollution events from sewage treatment works and pumping stations.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with previous experience within either the wastewater or utilities sectors, preferably in chemistry or environmental subsectors. Wastewater process engineering and compliance will have been a major focus points within your recent career history. You will be educated to NVQ Level 3 or an equivalent. You will have a logical mindset and possess strong problem solving skills, particularly with compliance and fault finding and will be computer literate with Microsoft Office applications and experienced in project management. Along with possessing great interpersonal skills, you will be confident in coaching and supporting site operators. As travel to multiple sites will be required, a valid UK driving licence is essential.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role will be based out of Mogden STW. We are offering a starting salary between £28,985 and £39,215 depending on experience and qualifications. We also offer 2 paid volunteering days per year. Due to extensive travel, a car or car allowance also applies.
