What is the purpose of the role?
Forming part of Thames Water's Economic Regulation department and Regulatory Compliance Team, we are seeking a Regulatory Compliance Analyst to provide specialist regulatory policy analysis and advice on Ofwat's regulatory framework, as well as support the monitoring and reporting on our compliance with Ofwat's regulatory requirements. You will support the Regulatory Compliance Manager, departmental head, senior management and wider business in order to protect the long-term interests of the business and its customers by helping the company understand the direction of travel in water regulation and influencing the debate. The role will involve analysing Ofwat's policy proposals and preparing the company's response to them; providing specialist regulatory advice to the business to help them to prepare for changes in regulatory policy; as well as supporting the development of regulatory submissions.

What will this role involve?
The successful candidate will:
Support the analysis of regulators' proposals to evolve the regulatory framework, and will engage with internal stakeholders to understand the impact on the business;
Ensuring that the business is positioned to influence our regulators and key industry / governmental stakeholders on regulatory decision making; Lead the development of responses to regulatory consultations on behalf of the business;
Lead the response to regulatory requests for information working with the business to provide robust data, information and commentary to regulators;
Be responsible for understanding our regulators' approach to key compliance mechanisms, and providing advice to business areas on regulatory requirements;
Support Thames Water's Regulatory Compliance Manager in monitoring and managing regulatory performance and co-ordination of key business reports;
Work closely with key areas of the business to provide specialist regulatory advice and influence decision-making on the development of options and plans to achieve compliance.
What are we looking for?
The successful candidate will combine a strong understanding of utility regulation in the UK with how large, complex organisations deliver and monitor compliance. Ideally, you will be aware of recent regulatory developments specific to the English water industry and how they impact water companies. You will have a degree (or equivalent) and possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills which will enable you to quickly understand and analyse the impact of new policy areas on the operation of the business. You will also have first class communication and presentational skills and has the ability to translate complex regulatory issues into clean, understandable terms. The role also requires an individual with excellent project management skills, who can drive continuous improvement and work under pressure in a fast paced environment. Good commercial awareness and proven influencing & negotiation skills is essential.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based in our Reading Head Office with a salary up to £44,000, depending on skills and experience.
