What is the purpose of the role?
As a Technical Training Consultant you will be a key part of the newly formed Technical Training section in the Learning & Development team in order to develop our people across the wastewater arena. You will have the responsibility of a region and liaise with your clients to determine their requirements in line with business needs. You will be involved in delivering training to small and large groups across the wastewater business using a range of methods. A key area is the development of our new starters to ensure they are knowledgeable, confident and safe to carry out their day-to-day role. You will review, design and deliver technical training on a diverse range of waste water subjects as well as working on small and large projects.

What will this role involve?
This is a fantastic opportunity to ensure that all of our front line operational staff and others will have the knowledge and skills to constantly demonstrate high standards of operational excellence.
You will ensure that the learners are coached and assessed against recognised operational standards using your specialist technical knowledge and skills.
You must be able to give constructive feedback, advice and support and where necessary develop individual learner plans through training needs analysis.
Working within a prescriptive framework where guidance is issued regarding training, coaching and assessment practices, along with documentation and quality assurance procedures for practitioners and learners.
Championing health & safety in everything that is delivered.
Providing support and advice to internal stakeholder groups to promote development as part of the need for continuous improvement, you will review current processes, improve training delivery, develop new material and explore new ways of working.
Take responsibility of your own training and knowledge, ensuring that you keep up to date with ever changing standards, technology, legislation and improvements.
You will have working knowledge of operating procedures and practices including, but not exclusively, Asset Standards, Health and Safety, waste water treatment and related processes.
What are we looking for?
Do you possess a good knowledge of wastewater processes? Have you got the passion and confidence to train, coach and develop individuals? We are seeking a self-motivated technical specialist who holds or has the ability to gain the relevant training/assessor qualifications in the waste water area. Process qualifications, particularly a NVQ/QCF (or equivalent) in Wastewater, L&D qualifications & professional accreditations would be an advantage, but not essential as appropriate support will be provided to develop into this role. You will have the experience or the ability to deliver classroom training & on site coaching in groups and one to one sessions. Designing and developing training materials and being able to challenge the status quo is essential. Knowledge of the waste water and sludge treatment processes would be advantageous. Please note, a valid UK driving licence is essential due to regular travel.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role has a flexible base location within the Thames Valley area and includes regular travel. We are offering a salary of up to £40,000, depending on skills and experience.
