Abnormal Loads Route Planner

National Highways have an excellent opportunity for an Abnormal Loads Route Planner to join our Abnormal Loads Team within Operations. The Abnormal Loads Team Planner will process applications to transport abnormal loads across the UK and will review and assess all applications against legislation and team protocol, whilst carrying out quality assurance checks on colleague’s work. The Abnormal Loads Route Planner will also liaise with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally, planning routes and re-routes necessary for the abnormal loads to safely and successfully travel on public highways. 

Please note that this is a hybrid position and will be based in central Birmingham. 

What You’ll Be Leading On:

  • Facilitate the movement of Special Order (SO) applications in England and Wales; manage specific movement files ensuring relevant policies and procedures are followed.
  • Carry out peer checks on routeing and vehicle data, to support the delivery of appropriate route planning.
  • Coordinate the consultation process, ensuring that agreed objectives are met.
  • Analyse and upload information correctly on systems to ensure that the information is accurate and easily accessible.
  • Act as a focal point for both internal and external enquiries to resolve issues and contribute to the development of relationships.
  • Undertake administrative duties as and when required, ensuring accurate, timely delivery and that relevant policies and procedures are followed.

To Be Successful

  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience with standard office software products to enable production and maintenance of a range of complex documents spreadsheets and databases.
  • Experience within an administration or customer service environment, working in a team or individually.
  • Exhibit good attention to detail and ability to analyse a variety of data.
  • Case Management experience desirable but not essential.
