Full time, 40 Hours

Monday- Friday, flexible hours between 7am and 6pm

£ 21,224.16 Per Annum


HMP & YOI Doncaster is a Category B prison and it predominantly serves the courts of South Yorkshire and currently holds up to 1,145 male prisoners over the age of 18. We are located in the centre of Doncaster Town Centre within walking distance of the railway station and bus station. As a resettlement prison we work with our prisoners, particularly those serving less than 12-months, to ensure that they have the support they need for resettlement as well as access to the services and support available to them after release. Most of our prisoners are released back into South Yorkshire.



We have an opening for an Admin Support Officer (ASO) to join our team based within the Offender Management Unit (OMU). The successful post holder will be joining a large department in a team of 43 employees. This opportunity involves duties such as ensuring up to date prisoner records are kept throughout periods in custody whether on remand or sentenced. In addition, allocating work to Prison/Probation Offender Managers and obtaining information to assist with and inform risk management.



Some of the day-to-day tasks for this role includes but is not limited to:


  • Updating prison recording systems (NOMIS/DPS/local databases) following admission of all new prisoners whether remand/sentenced.
  • Allocating cases to Prison Offender Manager (POM) caseloads.
  • Identifying those requiring risk assessments such as initial and recategorizations as well as OASys/Sentence Planning.
  • Scheduling, attending and completing minutes for meetings such as IPP progression panels and monthly Inter-Departmental Risk Management meetings (IRMT).
  • Overseeing functional mailboxes, obtaining legal documentation and warrants following court/video link appearances
  • Liaising with both internal and external agencies on behalf of the Offender Management Unit
  • General administration tasks including, filing of documents/parcels as well as collecting/sending mail for the department


What you need to do the job:


This is an opportunity for an individual who has proven experience of working within a fast-paced office environment. The successful post holder must have the motivation, attention to detail and clear communication that is considered essential for this role.

Having previous experience of minute taking is desired but not essential. The successful candidate must be highly organised, have effective time management skills and excellent computer and typing skills inclusive of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. It is important that they understand Data Protection/GDPR.
