Here at Serco we are looking for an Administrator to join our team at HMP Lowdham Grange. HMP Lowdham Grange is a privately operated category B prison in Nottinghamshire. We have an adult male population of long-term sentenced prisoners. We aim to engage the men in purposeful activity throughout their sentence with opportunities for employment, education, psychological intervention, engagement with Offender Management and a variety of healthcare services.
The role involves working as directed by Security management and in collaboration with OCA PCO.
The role entails heavy involvement in the preparation of weekly reports and the organising of prisoners transferring out of the establishment. This includes arranging level transfers to other Cat. B prisons. It also includes Category C & D transfers - ensuring that prisoners go to the right establishment that is within their CPA and meets their needs. I.e. Courses, medical needs etc.
Some of the other duties include but are not limited to:
- Allocations - Checking that our criteria are met before transfers and ensuring that there are no security concerns.
- Communicating with the Courts with regards to any issues or Court refusals.
- Updating the rolling Roll database with the moves that PMU have approved, this is to ensure we do not go over roll.
- Communicating across the establishment regarding what movements are due to take place each week/day.
- Answering prisoner Complaints, Solicitors letters and ATM applications.
- Collating figures for the Population Statistics.
What you'll need to do the role
This is an opportunity for an individual who is highly organised, have effective time management skills and excellent computer skills inclusive of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. The successful post holder must be able to prioritise and manage their own workload. They must be a great team player but also be able to work effectively on their own. It is vital that they have good written and oral communication skills. A knowledge of custodial environments is desirable but not essential as training is provided. Similarly, a knowledge of prison systems is desirable (Mercury, Nomis, CMS).
