Here at Serco we're looking for an Segregation Coordinator to join us at HMP Lowdham Grange.

 

HMP Lowdham Grange is a privately operated category B prison in Nottinghamshire.  We have an adult male population of long-term sentenced prisoners.  We aim to engage the men in purposeful activity throughout their sentence with opportunities for employment, education, psychological intervention, engagement with Offender Management and a variety of healthcare services.  

 

The Segregation Unit can accommodate up to 25 of the most challenging and complex men within our population and can be a challenging environment.  We combine the operational management of prisoners in partnership with mental health and psychological services to address their offending behaviour and progress them through their sentence.

 

 

The key purpose of this role is to provide support to the Segregation unit, conducting operational and administrative duties, working closely with the Prisoner Custody Officers and the Custodial Operational Manager. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a secure environment where you will not only provide administration support to the segregation unit, but you also be able to have more direct contact with prisoners as you attend and minute the weekly segregation meetings. Similarly, you will be supervised when compiling information about the prisoner's requirements on a regular basis including maintaining supplies in the unit including distraction packs, library items and stores.

 

 

Some of the other duties include:

 

 

  • Data protection application and process of appeals - Data Protection Champion for the unit.
  • Assist with the processing of adjudications and appeals in the absence of the ALO.
  • Maintenance of prisoner records and segregation paperwork,
  • Involvement in SMARG meetings, co-ordination of data from other departments to collate and distribute.
  • Maintenance of PNOMIS to ensure accurate reporting and compliance to the contract
  • Provide the men in the unit with information regarding the unit and their reviews.
  • Provide the men with all relevant paperwork in a timely manner and ensure they understand it.  Consider translation services where necessary.
  • Participate in group and individual supervision sessions with the Psychology team.
  • Assist with the completion of one-page plans and reintegration plans for individuals in the unit.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as instructed by your line manager.

 

 

What you'll need to do the role

 

This is an opportunity for an individual who has demonstratable experience working within an administrative environment and previous experience of minute taking is advantageous. The successful candidate must be highly organised, have effective time management skills and excellent computer and typing skills inclusive of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. It is vital that they have good written and oral communication skills. Having knowledge of PNOMIS (Prisoner National Offender Management Information System) is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
