Aerospace Welder

Role Summary

The role is for an Aerospace Welder who can demonstrate certification in accordance with BCAR A8-10 or equivalent, e.g. ABP2-4099. The individual must have extensive experience in the tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding technique, with a specific proficiency in manual fusion welding of heat treatable aluminium alloys. This position is only for welders who can display an aptitude in welding aerospace component configurations, including sheet to sheet and tube to sheet combinations comprising of material thickness ranges 0.6mm to 1.6mm.

Role Specific

Will include but is not limited to:

• The ability to manually TIG weld various types of metallic components including aluminium alloys, in accordance with aerospace standards.
• Have held certification in accordance with, or equivalent to CAA's BCAR A8-10.
• Undertake other welding methods to support the business when necessary.
• Set up and operate automatic seam welding equipment and undertake any necessary post weld validation.
• To operate as part of a team and working closely with quality and engineering.
• To adopt a positive and 'can do' attitude to problem solving.
• Process, interpret and evaluate components to customer specifications.
• To read work instructions, specifications and part drawings (accessed via PC).
• A working understanding of the NADCAP accreditation process.
• Must have the capability to carry out manual brazing and OA welding techniques on aluminium alloys.
• Ability to train and mentor junior members of the team going through the company's skilled trainee programme.
• Will be subject to successful approval of periodic welding / brazing test pieces as required.

Candidate Requirements

• Skilled operator having completed an Apprenticeship, NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Methodical and great attention to detail.
• Proven understanding of engineering documents.
• Basic IT skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Proven ability to actively participate in a team culture.
• To be able to work with minimal supervision.

This role will be working early shift, Mon-Fri, 06:00-14:15. The successful candidate will need to pass BPSS clearance to work onsite for the role.

This contract has been deemed inside IR35, therefore, PAYE or UMB contracts available.
