AMOS Specialist- Marine
Role can be based from either Portsmouth or Devonport naval bases
Fixed term contract 12 months Full time 37.5 hours per week- Monday- Friday

Here at Serco, we have an exciting opportunity for an AMOS Specialist to join our team based in either Portsmouth or Devonport naval base. The purpose of this role is to maintain and develop the Serco Marine Services AMOS planned maintenance and purchasing systems and support for transition of these functions into a new integrated engineering management system.
We welcome applications from candidates with AMOS Business Suite V8 and higher database systems development experience.
Main accountabilities:
- Provide day to day systems maintenance.
- Co-operate with Management Systems Coordinator to develop and utilise reporting tools and KPI's.
- Act as point of contact and provide PMS technical support to other Marine Services functions.
- Provide end user training and direction to Contract staff in AMOS databases, both for vessels and office-based installations.
- Develop and grow stores and stock control functions of AMOS system.
- Undertake site visits as may be required from time to time.
- Report on activities and system status as required.
- Undertake off site skill upgrade training as may be required.
- Assist in development and implementation of plans to increase the quality of Engineering data in AMOS to facilitate migration to a future new system at best advantage for future Engineering activity.
What you'll need to do the role:
- Experience in maritime asset management and in using maritime planned maintenance systems.
- Marine Engineering background, knowledge of port support vessels would be an advantage.
- Core competency and familiarity of AMOS Business Suite V8 and higher database systems development.
- Communication skills, written and verbal, being able to confidently present complex technical information, and by using suitable language for different audiences.
- Competence with MS Office software suite
- Collaborative mindset, with a desire to understand different points of view, and to use this to develop optimal positions.
Desirable
- Substantial experience in similar role.
- Several years sea going experience in a senior rank with higher MCA Certificate of Competency.
- Involvement in database development projects.
