Here at Serco, we're looking for an Assistant Director (AD) to join our fantastic team at HMP Thameside, a Category B establishment for adult males, with safety and security at the heart of it.
The Assistant Director is a key role responsible for the delivery of functional elements of the Contract, in line with Service Specifications and Prison Service Instructions and this role is predominantly to focus on Reducing Offending.
You will be responsible for the strategic planning of an area and management of resources in delivering against the objectives set out in the Contract. You will also be required to carry out duties of the Duty Senior Manger assuming operational responsibility for managing the prison regime. This will include adjudications and managing incidents in accordance with Incident Management protocols.

As a minimum, you must be Prison/Probation experienced with extensive knowledge of working with resettlement agencies. You should have experience of sentence planning in custody or in the community (ideally both.) You must be Prison Custody Officer (PCO) or Prison Officer certified or prepared to work towards the accreditation in your first few months. Other accountabilities are:

In order to carry out this role successfully, it is also essential that you have previous Leadership and People Management experience in a Reducing Offending field and are passionate about building stakeholder management with customers, suppliers and partners. Your collaborative team working and ability to influence, plan and organise to achieve high outcomes will be evident.
You will hold a relevant management qualification for a Senior Manager i.e. CMI level 4 or equivalent or significant managerial experience in a custodial setting.
You must have a flexible approach to working as you will need to work 1 in 7 weekends and be able to work on call as and when required.
Finally; drive, passion and commitment are of the utmost importance with that natural desire to want to make a difference however if you have experience within the probation/prison sector, third sector/voluntary agency and/or knowledge of Offender Management Unit work and sentence planning we would welcome applications!
