VIVO have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join our regional Project Management team.
This role will see you support the team of 10 Project Managers across a variety of construction, refurbishment, billable works and infrastructure upgrade projects of all values up to around £5million.
This is an exciting role that will give you real insight into the role of a Project Manager and will teach you all aspects of the role over a two year period. This will include creating reports, helping to manage the project lifecycle from start to finish, liaise with different departments to support the progress, updates and completion of projects and develop your IT and reporting skills.
During your training, you will analyse scopes of work, highlight risks & assumptions, carry out site inspections to ensure workmanship meets the standard and ensure Health and Safety practises and procedures are being adhered to, and engage with Supply Chain to obtain quotations for works and discuss technical solutions.
You will also learn how to identify and resolve errors in project management work, to create and update project reports for the Projects Team, and to perform effective version control management for output produced by projects.
This role will give you exposure to both internal and external customers, with a focus on proactively managing expectations and providing updates, a critical part of any Project Management role. You will also start to take control of smaller projects, with a view to increasing your responsibility throughout your training period.
What You Need To Do The Job:
All we ask is that you have an interest in and/or qualifications relating to the construction industry, or experience of working within a construction or facilities management environment.
This can be, but is not limited to, someone just leaving university or college, someone who wants to come off the tools, or someone working in any capacity within this industry.
You should have exceptional organisational and communication skills, with a good understanding of IT and Microsoft Office packages. You don't need to be an expert user though, we will support you in this area if you need it. A person with the confidence to challenge, the ability to think critically, and the ability to build positive working relationships would be a great fit.
In order to be considered for this role, you must be aged 18 or older at the point of your start date due to insurance requirements, be able to pass SC Clearance and hold a full UK driving licence.
What We Offer:
As part of our commitment to you, we will help you to achieve your Prince2 and APM certifications, both of which are nationally recognised industry qualifications in the Project Management sector, as well as Asbestos and Legionella training and Health and Safety certifications including SMSTS and IOSH.
The average learning period is 2 years, although you may be able to complete your qualifications sooner, or indeed take a little longer. Every learner is different and if it takes a little longer, that's alright too.
In addition to your qualifications, we offer 25 days annual leave, single private medical cover, 6% employer matched pension contribution and life assurance at 2x base salary.
In terms of career progression, from Assistant Project Manager, you can become a Project Manager, Senior Project Manager and eventually an Area Project Lead. You can also use the skills you learn to go into other areas of the business and undertake further qualifications in order to support your long term career goals, whatever those look like.
