We operate the exciting new West Midlands Cycle Hire scheme on behalf of Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and the West Midlands County Authority (WMCA). We operate 1500 bikes and eBikes within the region including in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Coventry.
As the Bike Mechanic, you will be responsible for carrying out repairs, services, quality control and any other bicycle maintenance tasks at our dedicated Bicycle Workshop, ensuring that our bikes are safe for all users.
This is a role that is vital to the success of the Cycle Hire Scheme, and we are looking for candidates that take great pride in their work and are committed to being the best ambassadors for the Cycle Hire Service. Our Bicycle Mechanics directly contribute to making the West Midlands a greener place to live and visit and are responsible for making sure our bikes are safe for all to use, so it is important that you are able to take that responsibility seriously.
This role directly impacts the amount of roadworthy bicycles that are available for service users across the West Midlands.
You won't be doing this alone either. Our team is made up of professional, friendly, and supportive teammates, including managers who began their careers with Serco as Bicycle Mechanics who now hold Team Leader, Supervisor, Operations Manager and Contract Manager titles.

What do I need to do the role?
To be considered for a position within our team, you should hold an NVQ or City and Guilds in Bicycle Maintenance, or extensive working experience in this field and be willing to undertake formal training as part of your probation period should you be successful.
The ideal candidate will also be enthusiastic and dedicated, as well as be trustworthy, reliable, and flexible, have good problem resolution skills, be numerate and literate and have experience of working with IT software.
