Are you an ambitious Procurement professional eager to make a real difference? We are seeking a Buyer to join our Hard FM (Facilities Management) category, where you'll play a crucial role in managing significant spend and supplier relationships. You'll support strategic sourcing initiatives and help optimize value across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the heart of our operations.
This role is essential to supporting Serco's Hard FM and engineering division, which delivers critical services across our public sector contracts. From prisons and healthcare facilities to defence sites, your contributions will directly impact the smooth running of essential infrastructure that millions of people depend on daily. By ensuring the right suppliers and contracts are in place, you'll help Serco provide exceptional services, ensuring safety, efficiency, and sustainability across diverse projects.
As part of this you'll:
· Collaborate with stakeholders and Procurement Category Managers to capture business requirements and develop effective sourcing strategies.
· Engage and manage key suppliers, ensuring performance improvement and risk mitigation.
· Support the delivery of sourcing and continuous improvement projects for robust contracts and improved value for money.
· Plan and manage the delivery of tactical Procurement projects while ensuring compliance to processes and governance.
· Analyse business purchase needs and recommend the best procurement strategy.
· Drive compliance to the use of preferred suppliers and maximise competitive sourcing opportunities.
· Participate in negotiation and agreement of pricing and terms with selected suppliers.
What need to do the role:
· Knowledge and understanding of Hard FM and Engineering would be advantageous.
· CIPS qualified or working towards CIPS qualification (Serco will support this).
· Experience in a sourcing or buying role would be beneficial, however not essential.
· Working knowledge of sourcing and contract lifecycle management (preferable).
· Familiarity with eSourcing systems to run sourcing events (preferable).
· Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
· Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn Serco applications.
· Enthusiasm with an aspiration to build a career in Procurement.
