Café General Assistant
Up to £8,250 per annum dependent on experience


Here at Serco, we are seeking a Café General Assistant who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the café. The café Assistant responsibilities include food prep, serving on the café counter, processing payments, and ensuring that the café is always clean and well-presented. 

As part of this role you'll:

-    Supervise the day to day running of the Bartley's café 
-    Assist the Café Supervisor with food prep each day for the breakfast, lunch, and the all-day offering 
-    Serve behind café counter and take payments on the till 
-    Cover any annual or sick leave for the Café Supervisor, all aspects of the role should be covered, including managing the team
-    Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to 
-    Ordering all stock for the café and on-site vending machines 
-    Monthly stock checks 
-    Receive and monitor deliveries 
-    Identify strategies to attract and retain customers 
-    Have a great understanding of the costing of the café menus 
-    Ensure that all areas of the café are clean, tidy, and presentable 
-    Monitor sales and trends and feedback to Café Supervisor to increase café sales - commercial sales experience would be a benefit 
-    Identify strategies to attract and retain customers 


What you'll need to do the role

First and foremost, you'll need to have proven experience of working in the hospitality industry. You'll need to be computer literate and have good knowledge of the Microsoft Suite. You will have sound knowledge of all Health and Safety and food and food safety regulations. You will have excellent customer service skills and be a strong team player. Lastly, you will have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally at all levels.
