Here at Serco, we are looking for a Chef to join our team at the Emergency Planning College. The EPC, also known as The Hawkhills Training, Conference and Events centre, is based in Easingwold across 280 beautiful acres of grounds and is the national centre for UK Resilience learning and development. This role will assist in the effective operation of the kitchens and departmental functions through the provision of team management and service delivery and to assist in the effective management of the Hospitality and Catering provision within the EPC. 

The ideal candidate will undertake various duties in the kitchen such as food preparation and cooking from fresh, adhering to health and hygiene regulations, stock management and assisting senior members in all aspects of running a kitchen, all ultimately leading to consistently great quality meals being served to our growing customer base.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

• Assist in the management of food standards and quality across all areas during all stages of food preparation and production.
• Assist with the ordering and food provision for the services provided on site and off site.
• Work with the kitchen team in creating and developing new menus.
• Ensure that all dishes are prepared, cooked, and always served to the highest standard in line with menu specifications. 
• Ensure a high standard of kitchen cleanliness is always maintained. 
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and statutory requirements, including human resources, health and safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire, and COSHH. 

What you'll need to do the role

• Excellent culinary skills are essential for this role.
• Problem solving and organisational skills. 
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Availability to work some weekends, and bank holidays.
