Here at Serco we're looking for a Chef to join us at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. The catering function provides a catering service to approximately 860 patients on breakfast, lunch and supper services. It will also operate a restaurant seating x 400 and a community catering service x 300 beds.


As a Chef, you will work as part of a team to prepare, produce, present and service menu items required for service users ensuring a clean and safe working environment, adhering to Health and Safety working practices and Food Hygiene Regulations. You will give direction to the Catering Assistants in the preparation of menu items. 


Main duties will include preparing daily menu items for patients, staff and visitors; production and presentation of menus; cleaning and sanitising work areas; daily organisation of chill and freezer storage; monitor and record temperatures of chillers, freezers and food in production; and assisting in the preparation of special food items and diets for patients. 

What you'll need to do the role

To be considered for this role you will need a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant discipline and an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate. Previous experience in a similar role is essential with a strong knowledge and understanding of nutrition. You will have good communication skills and be able to give clear directions to the Catering Assistants.
