We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Chef Manager to lead the catering operation at a thriving school in Bristol, serving approximately 250 pupils each day.

This is an ideal opportunity for a chef who enjoys managing a team, delivering high-quality food, and working within a rewarding education environment. With no evenings, weekends or split shifts, this role offers an excellent work-life balance alongside the chance to make a positive impact on pupils every day.

The Role

As Chef Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the school kitchen, delivering a nutritious and high-quality lunch service to approximately 250 pupils and staff.

You will lead a team of 6 General Assistants, ensuring food is prepared and served to the highest standards while maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing all aspects of the kitchen operation
• Preparing and serving fresh, nutritious meals
• Leading, motivating and developing a team of 6 General Assistants
• Managing stock control, ordering and budgets
• Maintaining food safety, allergen and health & safety compliance
• Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and food presentation
• Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and visitors
• Delivering a consistent and efficient lunch service each day

About You

• Previous experience as a Chef Manager, Kitchen Manager or Senior Chef
• Strong leadership and organisational skills
• Experience within education, care, hospitality or contract catering environments
• A sound understanding of food safety and kitchen compliance
• Passionate about providing excellent food and service
• Able to work independently and manage a busy kitchen
