HGV Class 1 Night Wag & Drag Driver

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 1 Night Wag & Drag Driver to join a well-established transport operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional driver looking for regular night work with a consistent route and schedule.

Role Overview

As a Class 1 Night Driver, you will be responsible for completing a nightly trunk run between the depot and Sheffield using a wagon and drag (drawbar) combination.

Your primary duties will involve transporting two empty demountable boxes to Sheffield, collecting two loaded boxes, and returning them to the depot. Upon your return, you will transfer the loaded boxes onto the rigid vehicle, ensuring everything is prepared and ready for the day-shift drivers.

Shift Pattern

• Sunday to Thursday
• Night shifts
• Start times between 17:00 and 19:00
• Consistent weekly schedule

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class 1 wagon and drag vehicle safely and efficiently
• Transport empty demountable boxes to Sheffield
• Return with loaded boxes to the depot
• Transfer loaded boxes onto the rigid vehicle upon return
• Complete daily vehicle checks and defect reporting
• Ensure compliance with Drivers' Hours and Working Time Regulations
• Complete all relevant paperwork accurately
• Maintain high standards of safety and professionalism

Requirements

• Valid UK Class 1 (Category C+E) Licence
• Previous wagon and drag/drawbar experience preferred
• Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card
• Good understanding of Drivers' Hours Regulations
• Reliable and professional approach to work
• Strong commitment to health and safety
