Job Description

The Quality Engineering Leader is responsible for all aspects of the Value Stream activity with respect to Quality Engineering requirements. You will lead the Composites and Panel Assembly Value Stream Quality Engineering team.

You will support the Value Stream to ensure Quality, Cost and Delivery targets are met. You will lead the relevant Intervention Centres and define and support, in conjunction with the wider value stream team, initiatives to continually improve performance (using corrective and risk-based approaches).

The role will report to the Head of Quality.

In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organisation, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Role Specific

Will include but is not limited to:

Quality Control

  • Interface with the Quality Control department to ensure inspections and Quality Control activity is performed in accordance with requirements.

Quality System

  • Maintenance, up-date, and continual improvement of applicable sections of the Quality Management System relating to the applicable Value Stream,
  • Support the deployment of APQP across the Hamble facility,
  • Lead the Composites and Panel Assembly Intervention Centre Boards,
  • Monitor and analyse Value Stream performance regarding quality and delivery metrics, instigate and support corrective action activities to ensure a robust process is maintained and the Hamble operation is protected,
  • Use risk-based approaches to continually improve the performance of the Value Stream,
  • Embrace and make use digital technology to capture and analyse data and enable efficient communication with stakeholders regarding performance etc.,
  • Provide audit support and coordination with the Quality Assurance function,
  • Promote and support effective Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activity within the organisation using established tools (8D, PPS etc.).

Staff Development

  • Plan and provide training and development for Quality Engineering staff,
  • Provide coaching and development for staff associated with relevant Intervention Centre Boards.

Resource Planning and Management

  • Resource planning,
  • development of flexible team,
  • identify and address single point of failures,
  • succession planning,
  • maintenance of skills matrix.
  • Develop and maintain a communication plan to provide employees with adequate information concerning business goals, objectives, and performance.

Continual Improvement

  • Interface with Value Stream Quality Engineering Leaders to provide and develop inspection methods, inspection planning and inspection instructions,
  • Research and introduce new methods and technologies to remove repetitive and inefficient Quality tasks for rate production programs,
  • Work closely with the Value Stream team leveraging existing skills & knowledge to ensure quality is 'built in' at all stages of serial manufacture / NPI,

Establish goals, work plans, and budgets such that lowest cost and highest quality results are achieved.

Security Clearance

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required
