Serco: Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre

Here at Serco, we're looking for a Contract Director (CD) to lead our team at Derwentside IRC - a high profile facility which plays a unique and critical role in the Immigration Detention Estate. There is currently one distinct population cohort: adult women whose cases are being prepared for potential removal; and a short-term holding facility for adult females intercepted following suspected illegal entry into the UK.
You will be accountable for all elements of the operation and performance of the Centre. The job holder will provide leadership, vision and strategic direction, holding overall accountability for ensuring the Centre is operated in a manner that is secure, welfare-focussed, operationally stable and meets its commercial obligations, whilst maintaining compliance with statutory requirements and contract performance measures.

We are looking for someone with substantial experience at a senior managerial level within a custodial environment to promote a culture and create a climate where change and innovation is understood, encouraged and embraced. Do you have a rounded knowledge of UK Immigration detention policy and practice; HMIPs healthy detention test, national security framework, safer detention, safeguarding and professional standards? What you'll need to do the role
In order to carry out this role successfully, it is essential that you have previous Leadership and People Management experience and are passionate about developing a culture where people are respected and valued, treated with dignity, developed and recognised.
Your collaborative team working and ability to influence, plan and organise to achieve high outcomes will be evident.
Have achieved or be working towards relevant qualifications in relation to the work: NVQ Level 6 or equivalent - e.g. degree apprenticeship, degree with honours (BA / BSc), graduate certificates, diplomas, or level 6 awards, certificates or diplomas
