Here at Serco we're experts in designing, implementing, and managing waste and recycling services, and right now we're recruiting for a Contract Manager for our Basingtoke based depot.  We provide a complete waste and recycling collection service, striving to minimise waste and maximise participation in recycling to ensure our community remains clean, safe and green.

Reporting to the Regional Director you will lead, manage and be responsible for the performance of an outsourced, local authority contract portfolio including approximately 80 blue collar staff in environmental waste and recycling collection service provision within a demanding commercial environment.

You will champion the continuous improvement and contract growth processes, increasing the rate of recycling/composting for municipal waste and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill, whilst actively seeking opportunities to increase and diversify the services we provide to our client and local residents and businesses.

You will ensure that KPI performance requirements are met, drive for change and innovation in the Contract in order to meet challenges for the future and develop and maintain effective relationships with local authority, community, trade union and internal stakeholders at all levels.

You will also produce management reports, manage staff and equipment resources and manage the absence and welfare of all employees.

In addition to this, the successful candidate will identify commercial planning requirements and opportunities in service areas, implement exemplary service standards to monitor, review and benchmark service delivery, ensure all employees have access to adequate training and career development plans and be accountable for and constantly monitor financial and operational performance to ensure all operations and methods are cost effective, efficient and meeting targets.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and passionate leader to take ownership of the Contract and lead the way with regards to innovation, service improvement and expansion. We are supporting this by making an innovation fund available to you in order to realise these goals.

You'll have the autonomy to create and implement a strategy for success - but you won't be doing it alone. You'll be joining a supportive senior leadership team and company that is as passionate about the delivery of public services as it is about your ongoing career development, with training courses, industry specific training and clear career development measures, all designed to ensure your ongoing success and lasting career with Serco.
