We operate the West Midlands Cycle Hire and e-Scooter scheme on behalf of Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). We operate 1500 bikes, eBikes and now, following the successful bid for the region's e-Scooters, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our Birmingham based team.

 

 

Reporting to the Contract Manager, this role will see you deliver integrated services across the operational organisation (Control Centre, Mechanics Workshop and On Street Operations), ensure that risk assessments and safe methods of work are in place and complied with, act as the lead operational member of the contract's Major Incident Team, operating as a focal point for the communication of information throughout the operation during key events, emergencies or exceptional operational periods and logistics and supply chain management overseeing the planning, purchasing and storage of parts, spares and assets.

 

You will also deliver to and under agreed annual budgets, supplying forecasts during the year in line with agreed timetables, track operational performance and safety results, comparing them to establish objectives and KPI's, and taking steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results and continually improve, and motivate direct reports who in turn motivate their teams; aligned with business values and objectives.

 

You will have 2 direct reports, a Senior Mechanic and a Senior Redistribution Driver.

 

 

 

About You

 

First and foremost, you will be an experienced Operations Manager with a degree or equivalent qualification in a related field and Six Sigma/Lean Yellow Belt accreditation, or an experienced manager with the right skills and ambition looking for the next step in their career. For the right candidate we can also offer Yellow Belt training as part of the ongoing dedication to training and development for our staff.

 

It is important that you have experience of managing a diverse and multi-site blue collar workforce, as well as the ability to develop and deliver operational plans.

 

Excellent customer service, analytical and decision making skills are essential for this role, as well as demonstrable experience of leading and improving service delivery operations.

 

You should be credible, able to confidently lead client meetings backed up with data, and have proven, quality leadership and people management skills, with a focus on enabling and mentoring.

 

It would be desirable if you have experience of working with local authority or public sector customers.
