EC&I Production Engineer
We are seeking an EC&I Production Engineer to join our team to support Automation design and build of electrical and pneumatic hardware controls packages for our process equipment for the pharmaceutical industry. The scope of this position covers all aspects control system engineering from requirement specification through design, test and commissioning and may involve some travel both in the UK and overseas.
The role will be working as part of a small team based in our Southampton office to deliver control systems to support the GEA Projects group and to also provide global support to other internal Systems companies as required. The role involves working in an ISO 9001 quality environment and complying with industry expectations for documentation and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
Your duties will include but will not be limited to - Automation department key interface to panel builder(s), factory assembly and site engineers. This involves responding to technical queries, and updating design documents throughout the lifecycle of the contract from initial order, build, FAT, site commissioning and SAT.
Collaborating with other disciplines to create and approve technical specification for all types of ancillary equipment to which the control system will interface. Typically, instrumentation, motors, sensors, safety devices and pneumatic controls.
Working with the engineering team to ensure selection of suitable components and installation details.
Inspection upon delivery of externally manufactured bespoke electropneumatic equipment, and electrical control panels.
Secondary duty as Hardware Design Engineer dependent upon workload, and abilities as follows.
Reviewing and establishing the project scope and deliverables, hardware design specifications, electrical and pneumatic design for the control system, control loop diagrams, equipment selection and equipment listing, cable and tubing schedules, electrical switchgear sizing and design, PLC input/output listings, loading, requesting procurement of the required control system elements, provide support for equipment manufacture and testing and to provide support for the on-site commissioning and qualification of the equipment.
Qualifications & Experience:
The successful candidates will ideally have a background in control systems-related electrical and pneumatic hardware design for process/equipment control in the Life Sciences industry or a similar
