£33,000 Per Annum, Plus £110 for working on a call out rota 1 in 6 weeks, Plus Serco Benefits

 

HMP Kilmarnock is situated approximately three miles south-east of Hurlford in East Ayrshire and housing a range of male prisoner types.

 

We have an opening for an Electrician Grade 1 to join our friendly and tight knit FM team here at HMP Kilmarnock. The key purpose of this role is to carry out preventative and reactive maintenance activities to items of electrical plant and equipment as may be defined and specified. Some of the duties involve carrying out fault finding and defect rectification to items of electrical plant and equipment as may be defined and specified. The role requires knowledge of high voltage and low voltage distribution and network systems. The successful candidate must be able to documentary support his/her inspections and pursue fault rectifications. It is essential they can read and understand technical and wiring diagrams.

 

The position is a key supporting function in the challenging environment of a secure establishment. The successful post holder will be working alongside other trades and will be expected to carry out other trade repairs. The role calls for leadership and setting visible standards of personal performance and accountability and the post holder is expected to function with a degree of independence.

What you need to do the job

 

This is an opportunity for an individual who holds a C & G Electrical Certificate or other electrical trade qualification.
Must have served a recognised trade apprenticeship.
Must be qualified to BS7671 (Current Edition of the IEE Regulations)
At least 5 years associated trade experience post apprenticeship.
