Will also be part of facilities call out roster- additional payment on top of salary
Yarl's Wood IRC is a fully contained residential centre housing adult women and men awaiting immigration clearance.
We focus on decency and respect in all aspects of care for our residents and use continuous innovation to further improve and develop our service.
The centre is located on the outskirts of Clapham, Bedfordshire. Purpose built as an Immigration Reception Centre' in 2001
We have an opening for an Electrician Grade 1 to join our team. They key purpose of this role is to carry out preventative and reactive maintenance activities to items of electrical plant and equipment as may be defined and specified.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of high voltage and low voltage distribution and network systems. The role is a key supporting function in the challenging environment of a secure establishment. The role calls for leadership and setting visible standards of personal performance and accountability and the post holder is expected to function with a degree of independence. They will need to be able to documentary support his/her inspections and pursue fault rectifications. Must be able to read and understand technical and wiring diagrams. All duties assigned to him/her must be carried out in a safe manner, observing all statutory regulations and the local regulations which may be in force.

What you need to do the job
This is an opportunity for an individual who holds a C & G Electrical Certificate or other electrical trade qualification.
They must have served a recognised trade apprenticeship.
The successful post holder must be qualified to BS7671 (Current Edition of the IEE Regulations)
Have at least 3 years associated trade experience post apprenticeship.
