Responsibilities:

There are a wide range of specialist wiring assemblies and test activities undertaken within the Manufacturing Department.

The Electro-Mechanical Team Leader will be responsible for the assembly of high precision instrumentation, undertaking all aspects of wiring and electrical assembly processes and providing specialist manufacturing skills related to this area.

The Electro-Mechanical Team Leader are also responsible for ensuring the output of the team is in line with time/cost/quality requirements and escalating risks/issues to relevant stakeholders.

This role will encompass technical hands on experience across the shopfloor form time to time, so applicants with a strong technical background can be considered without line management experience, should the experience be transferable with the view to develop into a team leadership role longer term.

Experience needed:

  • Previous assembly experience within a workshop manufacturing environment.
  • Wiring complex assemblies using technical drawings, wiring/circuit diagrams and work instructions.
  • Terminal installation, soldering high-density multi-pin connections and surface mount devices.
  • Printed circuit board assembly and repair.
  • Able to read and understand electrical drawings including wiring diagrams and PCB schematics.
  • Produce one-off builds to limited design/engineering instructions, including prototyping.
  • Practical experience in electrical assembly.

Desired;

  • Leading a production team ensuring that the members have the tools and skills required to meet the demands of their roles.
  • Mentor other team members to improve technical and practical skills and to ensure the knowledge/skills necessary are transferred between team members to retain capability within the Business.
  • Ensuring all paperwork (hard and soft copy) and electronic systems including ERP is completed accurately to ensure traceability.
  • Maintain good standards of housekeeping and cleanliness whilst complying with best health and safety practice including ESD precautions.
  • Existing qualification to IPC-A-610/620 would be an advantage.
  • Experience with COSSH.
  • Experience in the Defence or related Safety critical sector.
