Hybrid working (2 days per week in office)
£33,000 to £38,000 per annum (Depending on experience) + Benefits



Here at Serco we're looking for an Employee Relations Case Manager to join our wider team of specialists in providing professional advice and support to circa 3000 people managers across the UK. 


You will provide day-to-day employee relations consulting/guidance for Serco People Managers, covering all areas of the employee lifecycle including disciplinary, grievances, absence, restructures, absence, etc.


You will be managing a number of ER cases from beginning to resolution, ensuring risk-based options advice is provided to managers. Using your dedicated approach, you will coordinate and participate in monthly case reviews and analyse caseloads to identify key themes for improvement and identification of issues and trends within the business



As part of this you'll:

  • Work in partnership with the business to provide strong professional HR advice and support strategic HR decisions at all levels of the organisation
  • Provide a proactive and/or "on demand" advisory and consultancy service to people managers on a range of human resource issues, employee life cycle procedures and policies consistent with employee standards, legislation and guidelines
  • Manage end-to-end and timely closure of employee relations cases (disciplinary, absence, grievance, absence management, restructures, etc.) 
  • Ensure all activities are accurately logged on the People Services case management system, updated regularly and documents stored in employee files as required by Serco
  • Be a point of escalation for ER Advisors for more complex queries and provide day to day coaching as required
  • Analyse people related metrics, data and trends to make recommendations to Business Partners, and interventions with people managers to address identified people issues across the business 
  • Liaise with external agencies/ functions such as legal and local union representatives regarding the people issues related to procedures and policies and ensure that people managers work within the defined policy & procedures
  • Provide support in the delivery of people management training, redundancy consultations, people transition, organisational design and downsizing where required


What you'll need to do the role

  • You will have a creative 'can-do' attitude, proven negotiation skills with confidence in relationship management at all levels. 
  • You will be customer and delivery focused, with the ability to make decisions and manage risks
  • Have an up to date understanding and application of employment law and HR best practice 
  • A recognised HR qualification (CIPD or equivalent) preferred
  • Excellent generalist/operational HR experience at HR adviser, HR Business Partner level or equivalent
  • You will have the ability to plan projects, demonstrating tangible outcomes to measure positive outputs
  • Practical experience in managing complex ER cases, including redundancies, restructures, disciplinary and grievance cases and complex case management
  • You will already have proven experience in managing complex ER cases, including redundancies, restructures, absence, disciplinary and grievance cases, and complex case management
  • Ability to work in a faced paced environment
