Financial Accountant (newly qualified)

Hook  - hybrid (occasional travel to other Serco offices)
Full Time, Permanent 

Between £45,000-£60,000 per annum (dependant on experience & qualifications)   

 

Here at Serco, we are seeking a newly qualified Financial Accountant to be responsible for the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the various accounting and internal control activities in the Asylum Accommodation and Support Contract (AASC).

 


As part of this you'll:

 

  • Execute accounting processes including period-end (with initial focus on Lease Accounting (IFRS16))
  • Ensure accounting records maintained in compliance with Serco's policy and accounting standards
  • Perform or review the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and clearance of reconciling items
  • Help to maintain and test the group RACM for the processes in AASC
  • Produce agreed monthly reporting and make recommendations for improvement
  • Complete ad hoc analysis for the business area as required
  • Support and engage with other areas of the business and external stakeholders on accounting queries
  • Providing support to improve accounting processes and controls
  • Build and cultivate relationships with the Property Team to assist query resolutions
  • Develop in depth understanding of the operational aspect of the property portfolio
  • Taking responsibility of allocated monthly review tasks.

 


What you'll need to do the role:
 

  • Basic understanding of accounting for leases with IFRS 16
  • Newly qualified (preferably ACA or ACCA)
  • Evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evidence of building trust with a team
  • Clear communicator, capable of simply describing complex issues
  • Experience of having worked successfully in a virtual team
  • Demonstrates diligence and integrity
  • Adaptable, energetic and a continuous learner
  • Attention to detail and being resilient.
