Financial Controller - AASC 
Hybrid - Hook, Hampshire (some travel may be required) 
Full Time, 6 Months Fixed Term 
Up to £90,000 per annum (dependent on experience) 

Here at Serco, we are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to support the Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contracts to sign off the financial information with confidence by ensuring the integrity of the financial information through the maintenance of an effective control environment. This will encompass ensuring that the financial data and metrics are correct and adhere to UK&E and Serco policies and that the processes that support the production and reporting of those figures are robust, efficient and applied consistently.


You will be a self-starter who can own and drive consistent delivery of regular and recurring activities and drive financial process change through the Contract.  


As part of this you'll:


  • Ensure the effectiveness of the financial control environment across the Division and therefore the integrity of the financial information of the Division
  • Drive, own and embed the changes of process and supporting the culture required to achieve reduction in variation across the end-to-end financial process set
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and process excellence to improve the quality and efficiency of the process that sit within that control environment
  • Build strong working relationships across the business and particularly with Serco's BPO supplier, the UK&E finance team, the Global process owners and the Senior Finance team within UK&E
  • Drive the Strategic Plan and Budget process to meet all required deadlines including presentation packs
  • Maintain the smooth running of the External audit process and the minimisation of audit issues


What you'll need to do the role: 


  • You will need to be a qualified Accountant with experience of working in a large and complex environment
  • Up to date knowledge of international accounting standards and industry best practices and accounting skills
  • Experience of delivering change across a multi stakeholder matrix environment
  • Process improvement and shared service centre experience is highly desirable 
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills
