City Services is responsible for the Council's front line services including, customer service channels (digital, contact centre and face to face) and environmental operations such as highways, drainage, transportation, waste, street cleansing, parks and cemeteries.
About the job
The post holder will report directly to the Assets and Infrastructure Team Manager and provide a technical lead on all matters of flood risk for the city council. The post holder will have experience in providing engineering advice and design solutions to potential flooding situations and contributing to the development and maintenance of Local and Strategic Flood Risk Management Strategies. The post holder must have knowledge and experience of the Flood Risk Regulations 2009, the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, the Reservoirs Act 1975 and the Highways Act 1980.
About the person
The post holder will hold an HND/HNC in civil Engineering or other related discipline and have experience in working in a design/construction related environment with strong bias to drainage assets and highways. This post requires you to demonstrate the ability to work well as both an individual and team member with minimal management input. The post holder will also be required to possess an ability to organise and prioritise tasks and deliver complex outcomes to tight deadlines.
You will be skilled at analysing multiple sources of information, making excellent decisions, and driving difficult situations towards a positive resolution.
