Salary: £24,500 per annum, plus Serco benefits

Working hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week (6 months fixed term contract)
Here within our Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract at Coventry, we focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system - ensuring that vulnerable asylum seekers have access to the support they need along with suitable accommodation. As our new Head Cook, you'll play an important role in this as you help to deliver catering services to residents on site.
You will be preparing and cooking varied, healthy menus for service users while ensuring the security and safety of all foodstuffs is maintained during delivery, storage and distribution within the establishment. You will also provide training and supervision to kitchen workers.
As the Head Cook, you will be responsible for dealing with suppliers and ordering of foodstuff and consumables whilst understanding the recording and receipting of invoices and other such finances.
And whilst you're here preparing food for some of the most vulnerable people in society, we'll be supporting you. As well as all the initial training and accreditation you need to get going, you'll find work that works for you in a value driven organisation. All uniform is provided.
What you need to do the role
As well as good interpersonal, teamwork, problem solving, and communications skills, you'll need to have English and Maths qualifications up to level 2/GCSE. Given the setting you'll be working in, you'll an understanding of working in a socially diverse environment along with basic working knowledge of commercial kitchen environments.
And whilst you'll ultimately need to have a Level 2 Qualification in Food Safety & HACCP, Allergens in Catering, and First Aid in Work - you will be supported to complete these courses during your probation period. Ideally you will be working towards Level 3 Food Safety already.
Lastly, due to the nature of the role Security clearance at Counter Terrorism Check level and Criminal Record Bureau checks are required (all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office).
