Here at Serco, we are looking for an experienced individual to join our team as our Head of Contingency Operations for our Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC), where we offer a range of improvements, with particular focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system.

A key member of the operation's senior management team, this role is responsible for the day-to-day management of a defined remit of the field contingency operations and the strategic and day-to-day operation of a defined geography for all aspects of contingency accommodation used by the AASC business.

As the manager of a large team over a large geographical area, the role provides leadership across key contract roles and provides further support to the Operations Director


Some of the responsibilities include:


  • Takes full responsibility for the performance of the contract elements within their remit
  • Management and leadership of a multi-functional team to deliver a high quality, compliant service
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other senior management team members to deliver all aspects of the contractual service
  • With other SMT members, effectively manage processes to ensure compliance with the key performance indicators of the contract


What you'll need to do the job


This is an opportunity for an individual with an ILM Level 5 or equivalent managerial experience/qualifications.

It is essential that you have very strong capability in managing duty of care services for vulnerable people. Have strong knowledge of maintenance processes.  It is a requirement to have very strong operational excellence and continuous improvement capability.

You must be an experienced leader with change management experience and have a minimum 5 years in a people management role.

You must have excellent people management skills with evidence of engaging staff and improving/driving team performance. The successful post holder must have strong financial management skills, with experience of managing budgets of at least £1m.


Finally, flexibility is a must as you will be expected to travel.
