At Serco, we are seeking an experienced Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead the financial forecasting, planning, and performance analysis for our UK & Europe Division. This is largest Division within the Serco Group, generating £2.4bn of revenue via the provision of critical public services across sectors including Justice, Immigration, Defence and Health.  

 

You will be responsible for leading the annual budgeting process and monthly in-year reforecasting activities, as well as providing finance business partner support to the Divisional CEO, CFO, and General Counsel. You will also manage the FP&A relationship with our outsourced partner, Accenture's Centre of Excellence team, and ensure continuous improvement across the Division's financial planning processes.

 

This is a high-profile role with significant exposure to senior leaders across the Division and Group, making it an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to further their career.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the financial input into the UK&E Division's annual budgeting exercise, ensuring high-quality submissions that balance ambition with risk management.
  • Support the annual 5-year strategic planning process.
  • Oversee the monthly reforecasting process, ensuring risks and opportunities are well understood and communicated effectively to senior management.
  • Prepare insightful analysis of the Division's financial performance, supporting the senior leadership team in decision-making and risk mitigation.
  • Support Group-wide FP&A projects and assist with external reporting, including in the provision of information to shareholders and the auditors.
  • Provide financial business partner support to the Divisional CEO, CFO, and General Counsel for managing central budgets.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the offshore Accenture team aligned to the Divisional Finance function.
  • Continuously improve FP&A processes in collaboration with Business Unit Finance teams and other stakeholders.

 

What You'll Need to Do the Role:

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification with demonstrable post-qualification experience.
  • Strong financial modelling skills and expertise in forecasting, budgeting, and management accounts.
  • Advanced analytical skills with experience in handling complex data sets and turning them into actionable insights.
  • Experience working with financial systems, including SAP, BPC, and BW.
  • Proven track record of working closely with senior management and influencing decision-making processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to senior stakeholders.
  • A proactive, self-starting attitude with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Flexible, innovative approach to problem solving.
