As Head of International Programmes, you will be joining a dynamic, focussed and growing team at the forefront of one of the most critical platforms in the future UK Armed forces. The team is highly motivated and committed to deliver, achieving great success in the last year in this new exciting collaborative environment. This team has a high level of visibly within the UK senior population due to the strategically important nature of this programme.

You will be working across one of the largest, most exciting and ambitious programmes within Defence - to design and deliver a Future Combat Air Programme for the RAF in record time. This presents an outstanding opportunity to influence the design of the system to consider the integration and employment of effects rather than just integrate effectors to an existing platform.

This particular programme portfolio consists of multiple different projects and contracts looking at different areas within Combat Air. The company are involved in a number of these projects, where some novel technologies are being explored, the main UK FCAS Acquisition Programme, as well as the GCAP.

As Head of International - FCAS (GCAP), you'll be responsible for all company International delivery in the Future Combat Air Programme, including GCAP, the UK's Acquisition Programme and TEMPEST, within the Future Systems Directorate.

This is a senior, influential role regarding the development of key international industrial partnerships within FCAS and GCAP. The mission includes the development and sustainment of the company's international involvement within the programme (UK / Italy / Japan) including influencing workshare (through delivery performance).

You will have a key part in supporting the unexplored business model of GCAP (EMS, networked sensors, GCAP system design, platform integration) with Italian and Japanese industrial partners.

Experience needed:

  • A dynamic professional with experience of delivering within a sophisticated engineering environment.
  • Strong background in team leadership.
  • Background in working within an International environment e.g. Int'l or multi-national projects, in-Country delivery of a project activity.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively with partner companies in a fast paced programme environment.
  • Experience of management of communications and influencing across a map of national and Int'l partners.
  • Ability and willingness to spend amounts of time in-country (25%-50% international travel) and work with limited immediate senior support.
  • Strong partner leadership skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across Industry/Gov't as well as across cultures.
  • Experience of working on Future Systems programmes, defining and delivering on complex strategies.
  • Competence to develop effective networks across the key partners of MoD and internally in the business in both UK & Europe.
  • Proven track record working with the engineering community to develop and deliver.
  • Clear project management skills, reporting metrics and process across the directorate to support on time and on cost delivery
  • Resilience to progress in an uncertain environment with pragmatism and passion.
  • Maintain national and international industry and academic links in assigned technology area, keeping aware of potential developments and developing proposals for their insertion.
  • Develop and implement plans to ensure the business is proficient and has the requisite capability, technology, processes and tools in specialist technical areas, in line with the latest developments and company policy.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and corporate requirements and keep abreast of changes which may impact the business.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Combat Air Programmes
  • Good understanding of weapon products, underlying technology and next generation opportunities.
