Here at Serco, we are looking for a Housekeeper to join our team at the Emergency Planning College. The EPC, also known as The Hawkhills Training, Conference and Events centre, is based in Easingwold across 280 beautiful acres of grounds and is the national centre for UK Resilience learning and development.


This role will support all internal and external facing college deliveries, by executing cleaning duties in order to maintain a clean and safe working environment. The post holder will work independently or in a team cleaning all designated areas, ensuring facilities such as bathrooms, bedrooms and offices are cleaned and maintained to the highest standard.


Main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Cleaning walls, floors, furniture, and fittings by use of manual and electrically powered tools and equipment. Activities include dusting, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming in accordance with work schedule.
  • Understand and comply with the cleaning schedules which will direct which areas that are to be cleaned in the course of duty, service specifications and cleaning frequencies.
  • Ensure all areas are cleaned efficiently and in a timely manner to the required standards.
  • Ensure all outside areas are clean and tidy, litter picked, and bins emptied daily.
  • Ensure that the cleaning stores are kept clean and tidy, and equipment is stored safely.


What you'll need to do the role:

  • Good level of basic education including English and Maths.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Qualifications or training in relevant areas of Health & Safety such as COSSH, manual handling, and first aid, are desirable.
  • Understanding of the proper and safe use of cleaning agents and chemicals.
