Part Time, Permanent (33hrs per week)

Shift Pattern: 3 week rota, including weekends, between 8am-8pm

 

Salary: £22,739.75 - £22,765.30 - Pro Rata

 

 

Serco have an exciting opportunity for a Housekeeper to join the current team based at Harplands Hospital, Stoke-On-Trent. As the Housekeeper you will provide and maintain a cleaning/domestic service in the offices and non clinical areas ensuring high levels of cleanliness and safety in addition to providing a pleasant environment at all times.

 

Main Accountabilities:

 

  • Clean and maintain the work area in line with work schedules and in an efficient manner ensuring a safe environment for all
  • Follow best practise procedures associated with cleaning and control of infection
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment is used correctly and then cleaned and stored away after use - also checking the equipment before use for any faults
  • Ensure chemicals are used correctly in line with the COSHH procedure
  • Undertake regular cleaning duties including the emptying of bins, damp dusting and cleaning of the toilet areas and vacuuming, in addition carry out periodic activities including carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning and curtain changes
  • Wash walls and clean hard surface floors as per the planned programme
  • To be helpful friendly professional and compassionate with all patients visitors and staff in the unit
  • Fire safety follow the trust fire safety procedures and direction from the ward clinical team
  • Take part in any other training required
  • Undertake other duties as required following appropriate training

 

 

What you'll need to do the role

 

 

  • NVQ level 1 or 2  in cleaning building interiors
  • Good standard of general education
  • Good reading and writing ability & numeracy skills
  • Basic certificates in food hygiene and or health and safety or have potential to obtain certificates
  • Experience in a customer focused environment
  • Good common sense
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Understanding of maintaining a clean environment
  • Able to communicate effectively with different people
  • Be sensitive and understanding
  • Able to use own initiative
  • Receptive to change
  • Reliable, confident, compassionate & flexible
