Laboratory Technician to be based within Masterbatch company in Greater Manchester Title Laboratory Technician Location ManchesterSalary £25,000 - £30,000 SRG is working with a well-established supplier of polymer based products. They are looking to hire an experienced technician with a masterbatch, compounding or polymer processing background to join their small technical team based in Manchester. This company offer long term prospects for advancement in the future, ideally to a more technical service based role.Role / Description To carry out development activities related to black & additive masterbatch and conductive compounds from lab samples, plant trials through to full production. To monitor and supervise quality control issues related to conductive compounds and liaise with customers. Duties:* To ensure all laboratory testing is carried out using equipment that is calibrated and in full working condition and to adhere to the correct predefined procedure.* To ensure sampling and testing is carried out at the correct predefined frequency and samples are clearly labelled with the appropriate information.* To ensure all test results are recorded in the correct location * To cover as a deputy for incoming raw materials.* To make day to day decisions on material quality in terms of recorded test results against specified limits and to consult the Technical Manager when appropriate. * To ensure all new developments are fully set up * To ensure all development projects are carried out in a timely manner, in accordance with agreed time scales.* To report on all development and trial activities. * To ensure all development samples are despatched promptly to the customer. * In the longer term, to provide a technical service back up to the sales department and customers (this may involve travel)* To liaise with customers on any complaints that may arise. Requirements* Masterbatch/compound development experience* Excellent Problem-Solving skills; encompassing Innovative Technical and Analytical Approaches * Relevant science qualifications in polymer chemistry and or processing. * Proven experience in a thermoplastic polymer processing discipline.* Masterbatch or Compounding experience.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office. * Ability to manage projects simultaneously* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor communications to level of audienceIf you would like to apply for this position, please use the link provided.
