Wed 1200-1600, Thu 0830-1630, Fri 0830-1600

Salary: £23,030 (Pro-rata £11,515)

This is an exciting and varied role within the Military HR/Pay and Allowances department of the Defence Academy of the UK, an MOD site near Shrivenham Village.  Embedded with our MOD colleagues, the team are responsible for the accurate management of pay, allowances and many other aspects of the UK Military HR packages.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service skills, possess a high level of attention to detail, be organised, able to prioritise and have a good capacity for learning new skills and understanding regulations.  Full training and ongoing mentoring will be provided.

 

Sitting within a beautiful and secure site, the Defence Academy hosts 2 lakes and is surrounded by acres of scenic woodland.  The Academy trains the future commanders and staff officers of all three UK Armed Services and those from many countries around the world.

Work may include:

  • Providing a wide range of administrative support to military personnel
  • Adhering to MOD policies and regulations in order to provide accurate advice and support
  • Responsible for assisting in monthly payroll accuracy checks, responding to pay related queries from military personnel and advise and assist with expense queries
  • Managing data entry between a variety of different systems
  • What you need to do the job

 

What you'll need:

  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced Administrator with a good level of general education, preferably with the following:
  • GCSE's (A-C) or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Able to use a variety of communication methods (oral, written and face to face)
  • Essential you can work as part of a large professional team or individually
  • Be able to manage departmental workload
  • Must be methodical, have proven organisational skills and able to work to tight deadlines
  • Problem solving skills are a must in this role
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • It is essential that the successful candidate is PC literate, with a good level of experience using the MS Office suite of applications
  • Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to complete the Security Check (SC) process within the first 3 months of employment.  Serco will arrange this on your behalf.
