Serco have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Administrator to join our team based at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, Swindon.  The Learning, Development and Assurance Lead Administrator will be responsible for providing administrative support within the Training Management team. This role sits within the Support Services Department and provides imbedded support to the military and civil service customers at the Defence Academy in the J7 Training area.  

 

Serco at the Defence Academy provides Facilities Management across all aspects of the site including Estates, Logistics, various Supporting Services, together with Cleaning, Catering and Waste Management through ESS.

 

Main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Creation and maintenance of team shared file structures, calendars, and planners.
  • Support direct to OF5 heads of J7 (training) Operations and Plans function.
  • Support to the coordination of meetings.
  • Assist with new staff inductions.
  • Support to the collation of data reports and statistics as required.
  • Administration support to courses conducting by LD&A.
  • Event support from pre-event to post-event including accommodation booking, environment set up, event correspondence, local point of contact, event drawdown, collation of feedback and evaluation.
  • Administrative support to the training teams whilst travelling overseas or conducting courses overseas.

 

What you need to do the job:

  • GCSE's (A-C) or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Able to use a variety of communication methods (spoken, written, behaviour).
  • Previous administration and finance experience.
  • Good understanding of finance systems (ideally SAP) and standardised processes.
  • Ability to build sound working relationships with the operation team, Guided Buying and the SSC finance team.
  • Knowledge of general office practices.
  • Must be methodical, have proven organisational skills and able to work under pressure.
  • Problem solving skills are a must in this role.
  • It is essential that the successful candidate is PC literate, with a good level of experience in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel. 
  • Ability to work well in a team, and independently.
  • You will have to gain enhanced clearance within the first 3 months of employment.  Serco will arrange this on your behalf.
