Here at Serco, we are looking for a Learning Support Lead to responsible for the delivery and administration of teaching, learning and programme assessment, ensuring it is compliant with internal and external quality standards.

 

As Learning Support Lead, you will work as part of a wider team to be part of the delivery of fantastic apprenticeship programmes and Learning & Development (L&D) content for multiple business areas, on multiple topics, using a variety of tools. 

 

You will be the specialist within the team on learning support and will lead on the creation and monitoring of learning support plans for apprentices who have identified/disclosed additional learning needs. You will ensure learners are getting the support they need throughout their programme and work with the wider team to upskill and share knowledge and tools.

 

You'll work closely with our apprenticeship programmes supporting to deliver content for Level 2 - Level 6. 

 

Your main responsibilities:

  • Ensure Functional Skills (FS) processes are followed in line with Serco and ESFA requirements, to ensure KPI's are met
  • Produce monthly reports to inform on ALN (additional learning needs)/FS progression data
  • Teach and assess functional skills English / Maths on vocational programmes primarily via distance learning but with some face-to-face group and individual teaching/assessing 
  • Ensure appropriate and effective functional skills materials are developed and used with learners to maintain and enhance the quality of their learning experience as they complete their functional skills 
  • Prepare a functional skills assessment plan for apprenticeships that meets the awarding bodies' requirements and strategic plan, maintaining compliance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) requirements 
  • Support Serco's Quality and Operations teams by providing information and reporting.
  • Review performance of Functional Skills programme against targets and recommend when/if appropriate interventions are required. 
  • Contribute to the effective implementation of the Quality Improvement Plan and participate in the self-assessment process 

 

 

What you'll need to do the role:

  • Educated to graduate level is desirable but Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent (minimum qualification accepted)  
  • Experience of supporting learners with ALN and LSF requirements
  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in Maths and English, with recent experience of teaching Math and English at Level 2 
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of teaching techniques to motivate learners who may be disengaged  
  • The ability to and experience of working within a regulated quality environment (OFSTED, awarding bodies etc) is a critical part of this role.
